Hill & Ray is a Berlin-based folk-rock duo made up of Jamie Hill and Peter Ray. They met in 2011 when Peter was recording his second album „444“. He invited Jamie to join him on some tracks and soon they were inseperable on and off-stage. The striking difference in age, character and styles (with Peter‘s rather rocky powerful voice and Jamie‘s softer folky singing) seems to have formed a productive foundation for their intense friendship-driven collaboration and led to the release of „Secret Garden“ in 2016. Since the beginnings, the duo has explored different styles coming from a rather puristic singer/songwriter tradition, then adding more complexity into their arrangements, influenced by country, folk, swing, pop and rock.

With Peter also being a professional audio engineer the duo has its own studio and is in total charge of recording and production. Using mostly vintage equipment from the 60ies and 70ies allows for a retro sound, without being constrained to a certain genre. „No limits, do what the song tells you to do“, is their motto. Still, their taste in music is inspired by Fleetwood Mac, The Dire Straits, J.J. Cale, and Shovels & Rope to name just a few. Handmade sounds, strong melodies and harmony vocals form Hill & Ray‘s musical fingerprint, especially in regard of their upcoming album „Serendipity“.

„A Long Way“ is now the first single of „Serendipity“ which will be released on December 13th, 2019.
